Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching and Learning in Art

This interactive media-focused workshop is an introduction to culturally and linguistically responsive contemporary art teaching practices. In this session, we will discuss the diverse views on display in the Surrey Art Gallery and their impacts on teaching and learning, as well as how to signify the interplay of language and imagery.

The gallery artist-educators will share curriculum ideas and approaches to contemporary art teaching so that participants can implement concepts in their classrooms.

The format will be participatory, with discussion and interactive components referencing selected video elements from Surrey Art Gallery’s Fall Exhibition. Bring your expertise and be ready to share!
