This presentation provides a discussion of gestalt principles with particular emphasis on understanding visual perception through considering the gestalt theory. The presentation will include practical ideas for teaching students the gestalt principles to enhance their compositional awareness both in their own art production and in viewing the work of others.
Michelle is an Assistant professor in art education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Victoria. Michelle’s research interests include design education, creativity development, empathy in design thinking, and inquiry learning in art/design.
